How to register with Help to Buy South and what happens next
If you're looking to buy your first home using the Shared Ownership scheme or you'd like to rent a property through one of the rental schemes, Rent-to-Buy or Intermediate Rent, you will need to be registered with Help to Buy South first.
Registering with us is quick, free and easy and the simplest way to do it is online via our website, however if you prefer you can request a paper application pack from us. Once you've completed your application your eligibility can be assessed and you can start to apply for properties to buy or rent.
If you're interested in buying your home using the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme the process is slightly different and you are not required to register with us, however if you do you will receive notifications of open days and Help to Buy Homes Shows where you could end up reserving your home on the day! The registration process
To register with us you'll complete a simple application form which will take about 15 minutes to do. On this you'll let us know your requirements including where you want to live, what type of home you'd like to buy or rent and your income and out-goings. From this we will check your eligibility for the schemes and if your application is approved we'll let you know within 4 working days.
You will need to know your monthly income and financial outgoings before starting the form, as well as your National Insurance Number, and if you are completing a joint application and applying with a partner you will need the same information for both applicants.
What happens next
Once your application has been approved by us and we've notified you you're registered, its time to start looking for a home.
Visit our website and start your property search; make sure to save your searches as you'll get notifications when properties matching this criteria are added to the website. You'll also receive notifications of open days and Help to Buy Homes Shows where you can get free advice and gather information on new homes available and coming soon to the market.
Recent changes to the buying process mean that to get more information about a home or development you're interested in, you must contact the Housing Association or Developer selling or letting that home. To do this, you need to log in to your application, find the property listing and click on the 'register interest' button. This will send your application details straight to the seller who can then contact you with more information. Alternatively, contact email addresses and phone numbers can be found on every home listing on the website.
