HELP TO BUY OPENS THE DOOR TO GARY AND SALLY'S DREAM HOME AT TAYLOR WIMPEY'S KINGS COPSE

Gary and Sally Chapman have moved into the home of their dreams - thanks to the Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme at Taylor Wimpey's Kings Copse, in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire.

The couple sold their old home in December to a cash buyer, and were unexpectedly told that they had three days to move out.

"We sold on the Friday, went for a long weekend away, then when we came back on the Tuesday the solicitor told us we had to be out by Friday!" Gary (53) recalls. "It was a bit of a surprise as we had nowhere to move into - so we had to move back in with our parents - which was a bit of a shock to us."

Fortunately, within a matter of weeks they had found their perfect place - the three-bedroom 'Crofton G' - at Kings Copse, which they moved into in August 2016.

Sally (45), who works as an operating department practitioner in Gloucester, says: "We knew we wanted to buy a new build, mainly for the convenience of having somewhere ready to go, and not having to worry about DIY or maintenance once we moved in."

Gary, a production manager and former professional football referee adds: "From the moment we stepped into the sales office we were blown away by the 'Crofton G' home.

"The only problem we encountered during the process was when we were told that 25 other couples wanted the exact plot we wanted! But we were determined to have it, so the day before it was released for sale I camped out overnight at the development - in the freezing, January rain - to guarantee that we got it!"

Under Help to Buy, eligible first-time buyers and those with a property to sell can access a Government loan covering 20% of the cost of new-build homes up to the value of £600,000. That means they only need a 75% loan-to-value mortgage and a 5% deposit.

"Rachel from Taylor Wimpey was fantastic," says Gary. "She explained to us how Help to Buy could help us to purchase the house that we really wanted.

"Being able to use Help to Buy has been amazing. It's enabled us to jump up a few steps on the property ladder and now we have our perfect new home.

"The purchase with Taylor Wimpey has been so stress-free, it is unreal!"

Sally adds: "We couldn't wait to move in - everything about the house and the development is perfect. The location is great for us to get to work and our families are close by, while the property ticks every box for what we want."

There's a superb selection of new homes currently available at King Copse, including two-bedroom coach houses from £168,000, two-bedroom houses from £182,000 and three-bedroom properties from £215,000.

Kings Copse is located in Kingsway Village, near the Cotswolds on the banks of the River Severn, just three miles south of the centre of Gloucester.

The local area features a shopping parade including a Tesco Express, while Quedgeley, two miles away, boasts a wide range of convenience stores and Gloucester city centre has an extensive selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Parents will appreciate that there is a choice of primary schools close to the new homes, including Kingsway Primary School and Waterwells Primary Academy, both rated 'good' by Ofsted, while secondary schools can also be found nearby.

The development is conveniently positioned just off the A38 while junction 12 of the M5 is only 10 minutes away. Gloucester railway station is five miles from home for direct services to Cardiff and London Paddington.
