Kelley nominates Fiona from City and Country as her Help to Buy Hero!

Kelley is nominating Fiona from City and Country for a Help to Buy Hero award for helping her find her beautiful apartment in Caversham.

"Fiona and her colleague Yvonne were extremely helpful to me during the process of purchasing my home" says Kelley. "Buying a home at my stage in life was something I never ever thought possible but whilst it was down to me to overcome a great deal personally to achieve this goal, it was made all the more enjoyable and rewarding down to Fiona's assistance".

Having previously rented two properties on the same Garden Quarter development as her new apartment she knew this was somewhere she'd like to put down roots. "When I decided to buy I was helped every step of the way" explains Kelley, "Fiona made sure I was kept informed, gave guidance and even accommodated one of my fitters to measure up. Even when I was concerned about where my parking spaces were, the ladies had them moved closer to my property".

The Help to Buy Equity Loan Scheme enables purchasers to buy a new build property with a 5% deposit and borrow up to 20% of the value of the home in the form of an interest free* equity loan from the Government. You then need to raise a 75% mortgage to cover the remaining cost of the home.

Without Help to Buy Kelley couldn't have made the step to becoming a homeowner, "I could not have bought my house without it" she explains, "as a single purchaser having to save plus pay rent it was not easy and the scheme has made it possible for me to successfully buy my own home."

"I just love the Garden Quarter as a development but the vaulted ceiling in my open plan lounge with its exposed beams has to be the highlight. It is a real 'wow' factor and never tire of looking up at it. I also love the fact that my home is a part of history and it's listed".

Getting the keys to her own place was a real landmark for Kelley, "The day I got my keys I made sure I had pictures taken of me stood by my new front door. It was such a special and defining moment for me. I even had beautiful lilies given to me by Fiona and the team and I can honestly say it was a massive achievement for me. I want to thank Fiona very much for helping to make my dream come true and nominate her as my Help to Buy Hero."

*The equity loan is interest free for the first five years, but in the 6th year of ownership, a fee of 1.75% of the equity loan based on the market value at the time you purchased is payable monthly, rising annually by the increase (if any) in the Retail Price Index (RPI) plus 1%. This is applicable if you have not paid back your equity loan by the end of year 5. An illustration will be given to you at the time of purchase.
