Amy has nominated Emma at BPHA for a Shared Ownership Superstar Award for her outstanding customer service.

Buying your first home can be a daunting experience but for Amy the help and support she received from Emma at BPHA made the whole process a lot more enjoyable.

"I had dealt with several other sales teams at different organisations whilst looking for a Shared Ownership property before we found the one we eventually purchased" explains Amy, "and out of all of them Emma was by far the most helpful, efficient, reliable, and generally excellent person I dealt with. She always responded to emails or called back when she said she would, she was organised, she kept us up to date every step of the way, and she was also just generally lovely."

Having previously privately rented Amy thought she wouldn't be able to afford a home of her own for a long time, "we lived in a rented flat because I couldn't afford to buy at the time but whilst living there a relative left me some money which meant I could start looking at buying somewhere."

Amy found out about the Shared Ownership Scheme through friends and looked into it herself "it was recommended to me by a couple of friends who had used the scheme to buy their first home too, and it was realistically the only way I could afford to get on the housing market in my area, because I just couldn't afford to buy outright."

With Shared Ownership your minimum deposit is just 5% of the share you buy, meaning if you buy a 50% share of a home and your share is worth £100,000 your deposit would be £5,000.

Amy found her home on Help to Buy South's website when it was still in the process of being built and soon started making plans when she knew it was to be her home, Emma also helped with this "Emma was very accommodating when I wanted to bring my parents to see the house before we had completed" she says, "she waited patiently while we measured every wall in every room in the house so I could order furniture. She made the process far less stressful than it could have been, and it was really good to know that there was someone I could contact and be sure of getting a quick and helpful response" continues Amy.

Amy loves the fact she's managed to buy a house using the scheme when she was expecting to get a flat, "It's just wonderful that it is a house," she explains. "We were initially looking for flats that were more central, and closer to my partner's work as he doesn't drive, but we just couldn't pass up the opportunity of a house with its own garden. We have just added some guinea pigs to our family who love going out on the grass, and we are looking forward to getting our first dog."
