Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"I had the keys within 6 weeks of reserving!"

As a part time teacher and busy single mum, Rebecca Macfarlane thought that owning her own home following a divorce would never happen again.

"My four daughters and I were in rented accommodation for over two years, but when I saw the new development Augusta Park in Andover being built by Taylor Wimpey, I went along to find out what was available," explains Rebecca. "When the staff in the sales office said an equity loan scheme, FirstBuy, was available at the development, it meant I could afford to buy a home big enough for us."

FirstBuy is a government equity loan scheme specifically designed to help first time buyers struggling with the need for a large deposit. The scheme can help you purchase a new build home on selected developments with the assistance of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home. Rebecca was shown in the direction of HomesinHants, the government-appointed HomeBuy Agent for Hampshire and Isle of Wight, and gave them a call to find out more.

"I was told I needed to register with HomesinHants, so logged on to their website to complete the application form. Once I was approved for the scheme, I went back to Augusta Park to reserve our brand new home!"

With the equity from the sale of her previous marital home, mortgage and FirstBuy equity loan, Rebecca purchased a three bedroom townhouse for £211,000, with her monthly mortgage repayments coming in at just over £450 per month. Within six weeks of reserving Rebecca had the keys to her new family home.

"We've turned the downstairs study into a fourth bedroom, and it's lovely to be able to afford a home spacious and comfortable enough for my four girls. I never dreamed of being able to own a home like this, and it's all been made possible by the FirstBuy scheme."
