Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"Everyone was so helpful and they made everything as simple as possible for me"

Owning a brand new home seemed like a distant dream for Edyta Swiecka, a restaurant Manager from Southampton, who had been living in a private rented apartment for over 7 years.

"I was interested in the Crest Nicolson, Empress Heights development in the city centre so I visited their website." said Edyta "When I was researching the development I discovered information on a scheme that could help me purchase the property, instead of renting, and I was interested to find out more."

The staff from the at Crest Nicolson sales office advised Edyta to register with HomesinHants, the HomeBuy Agent for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, where she could be eligible the government backed FirstBuy scheme.

FirstBuy is an equity loan scheme specifically designed to help first time buyers struggling with the need for a large deposit. It has recently been replaced with the Help to Buy Equity Loan, a new scheme that is available to help first time and next time buyers purchase a new build home on selected developments with a 5% deposit and the assistance of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home. Once Edyta filled out the application form she was pleased to hear that she was approved for FirstBuy.

"My new apartment is in a very good location, and my work is just seconds away" she said. "Everyone was so helpful and they made everything as simple as possible for me" Edyta added.

Purchasing the property for £164,950 with the support of a 20% equity loan, Edyta's mortgage payments are affordable at £538 per month, much less than private renting. Edyta soon moved into her brand new two bedroom apartment featuring two bathrooms, one with en-suite, a sizeable living room with kitchen, and a lovely terrace. "I was surprised by the size of the terrace, I can't wait for summer!" she said.
