Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"I was very surprised at how quick and easy the process was"

Within the current property market, a vast majority of young adults are struggling to save the large amount required for a deposit. Nathan Unwin, 29 from Farnborough, had always thought that having a place to call his own wasn't feasible, until he saw an advert for FirstBuy in his local newspaper.

FirstBuy is an equity loan scheme specifically designed to help first time buyers struggling with the need for a large deposit. It has recently been replaced with the Help to Buy Equity Loan, a new scheme that is available to help first time and next time buyers purchase a new build home on selected developments with a 5% deposit and the assistance of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home. Nathan knew this scheme was right for him.

Nathan has always lived with his parents and although he works and saves hard, the opportunity to buy a place of his own has been difficult. "I looked at moving a few years back but just couldn't afford it" recalls Nathan. "I came across FirstBuy on an advert, after researching into how the scheme could help me I soon filled out the application form on the HomesinHants website, which was very quick and easy, and I then waited for a phone call." said Nathan. "When HomesinHants called and explained the scheme to me, it was brilliant news to hear that I was later approved for FirstBuy" he added.

The process of finding a new home was soon underway and Nathan was immediately attracted to the Farnborough Central development, by Redrow Homes that overlooks the airfield. "I work in the area and needed to cut down on the 40 mile around trip" said Nathan. "I was also attracted to the good commuting links to London as I enjoy the city nightlife."

Nathan purchased a two bed apartment at Farnborough Central. "The apartment has a balcony that has the sun for most of the day and I was shocked at how large the apartment is! I love the views, and enjoy a bit of plane spotting!" says Nathan. Paying just £690 per month, Nathan purchased his apartment with a deposit of £12,875 and an equity loan of 20% with the help from FirstBuy. And with no interest to pay on the equity loan until year 6 of living in the property, Nathan couldn't be happier.

"I was very surprised at how quick and easy the process was. It was stress free and everyone I came into contact with were extremely helpful and friendly." he said. "I'm extremely happy with how the process went and I love the fact that my mates are very jealous of my apartment!"
