Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"We would highly recommend the process"

Mark Jamieson believed that purchasing his own property in an ideal location was unfeasible with the current high market rents and large mortgage deposits required. That was until he discovered how the government backed scheme, FirstBuy, could help him.

FirstBuy is a government backed equity loan scheme available to help first time buyers take a step onto the property ladder. The scheme is offered to assist the purchase of selected new build homes, with the support of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home; it is particularly helpful to those who are struggling to save for a large mortgage deposit as you usually require a minimum of 5% of the full price. Once Mark had registered with the HomesinHants website, the government-appointed HomeBuy Agent for Hampshire and Isle of Wight, he was guided along the way, and one step closed to owning his own home.

"We were renting for location purposes and couldn't afford to buy" explains Mark. "The Taylor Wimpey website for Augusta Park, Andover had information on the FirstBuy equity loan scheme, and they directed us to the HomesinHants website to register and find out more information about the process".

"It was easy, HomesinHants were excellent and their team was very pro-active and extremely helpful." said Mark. "Once I was approved for the scheme, I soon contacted Taylor Wimpey to reserve my new home."

After just two months of registering his interest, Mark soon moved into a brand new three bedroom house located in Augusta Park, with his partner Emma, her son Monty and their cat Berry. Through the help of the FirstBuy equity loan, a mortgage and a 5% deposit of just £8,500, Mark was no longer wasting money on private rent. With monthly mortgage payments of just £640, Mark is now firmly on the property ladder.

"We're now living in a home of great property value, with good commuting distance, in a nice area and excellent potential schools for Monty" said Mark. "We now have three bedrooms and the rooms are all very well sized, we're incredibly happy here" cheerfully added Emma. "We would highly recommend the process to anybody in the same situation as us; it's been a comfortable and straightforward journey throughout!"
