Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"It was a very easy process with regards to the Help to Buy scheme"

Graham Fishwick, an Independent Financial Adviser from Portsmouth, had been keeping an eye on the 2013 Budget Announcement. When Graham discovered that the new government backed Help to Buy scheme matched his family's personal situation perfectly, he began looking for the ideal property available on the scheme.

Help to Buy is a government backed equity loan scheme available to help first and next time buyers take a step onto, or move up the property ladder. The scheme is offered to assist the purchase of selected new build homes, with the support of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home; potentially an ideal way to get on the property ladder for first time buyers struggling to raise a large deposit, or for those who need to move up the property ladder who either don't have enough equity in their current home or not being able to raise a larger mortgage.

"We owned a property in Portsmouth but were looking to move out of the city centre which would be better for our two young children" says Graham.

Graham and his wife, Denise, found their perfect home and soon contacted the developer, Bloor Homes, to arrange a viewing. They then spoke with the mortgage adviser recommended by the developer, who explained the process of contacting HomesinHants, the Help to Buy agent for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

"It was a very easy process with regards to the Help to Buy scheme" said Denise. "We just filled out the form on the HomesinHants website and the whole process was straightforward and simple from there" she added.

Within just 6 weeks of reserving their property, Graham and Denise completed on their £285,000 three bedroom house in the sought after area of Emsworth. It features three stories with a kitchen / diner and lounge. Two of the bedrooms are located on the first floor and the master suite covers the top floor. The garden is perfect for the couple and their young children, and has made a substantial difference to the family's way of living.

"We were looking for somewhere with a bit more space and a nice garden. We'd always wanted to buy a new build property but couldn't afford to until Help to Buy was announced" explained Graham.

Through the help of the Help to Buy Equity Loan, a mortgage and a 5% deposit of just £17,000, Graham and Denise's monthly mortgage payments are affordable at £1,050. The couple are pleased with the scheme and the help that have received from it.

"We found the whole process very quick and straightforward. We have always known that buying and selling houses is a stressful time but Help to Buy made it a lot easier for us."
