Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"We couldn't believe our luck when we heard about the Help to Buy scheme"

We often hear that many young singles and couples find saving for the 'perfect' first home a big challenge. With high mortgage deposits required, the national average age of a first time buyer is slowly on the increase. Josef and Clare, both 25, had discovered the difficulty of taking a step onto the property ladder, as they weren't just searching for their first home together, but a new chapter in their future family home.

"We were both living at my parent's house with a baby on the way, but desperate for a place of our own." explains Clare. " At the time, we couldn't afford the perfect family home that we had always dreamt of."

"We searched the internet and came across the Persimmon Homes development in Alton." said Josef. "We had fallen in love with the properties there and when the sales person told us about the Help to Buy scheme, we couldn't believe our luck."

Help to Buy is a government backed equity loan scheme available to help first and next time buyers take a step onto, or move up the property ladder. The scheme is offered to assist the purchase of selected new build homes, with the support of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home; potentially an ideal way to get on the property ladder for first time buyers struggling to raise a large deposit, or for those who need to move up the property ladder who either don't have enough equity in their current home or aren't able to raise a larger mortgage.

Josef and Clare arranged an appointment with a financial advisor and were pleased when they were approved for the Help to Buy scheme. The paperwork was underway with HomesinHants, the Help to Buy agent for Hampshire and Isle of Wight, and the couple were looking forward to finally becoming homeowners, and soon-to-be parents.

"With the support from HomesinHants and the sales team at Persimmon, the process was a lot easier than we imagined. The weather kept pushing completion further way, however it all worked out perfectly in the end." said Clare.

With a deposit of just over £12,000, their Help to Buy equity loan, and monthly mortgage payments of £821, Josef and Clare's brand new 3 bedroom house is affordable and within their means.

"Our new home is a gorgeous mid terrace property, in the heart of Holybourne, Alton. I love how we had the opportunity to put our own stamp on it by choosing all of the finishing touches. The final result is much more than we could have hoped for, and now that we've had our daughter, Daisy, we can't wait to see her grow up in our lovely home."
