Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"I never thought it would be so quick and easy"

Growing up and having always lived in the area, Clair Langridge-Barker (39) and Douglas Hough (38) were privately renting in Poole, Dorset. When Doug's employment location recently changed, the couple faced the choice of either commuting to Whiteley, Fareham, or moving to the area.

"Following the news of change in my job location, we began searching for homes in the Whiteley area." said Doug. "Whilst doing this, we heard about the Help to Buy scheme through newspapers and advertising" he added.

Help to Buy is a government backed equity loan scheme available to help first and next time buyers take a step onto, or move up the property ladder. The scheme is offered to assist the purchase of selected new build homes, with the support of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home; potentially an ideal way to get on the property ladder for first time buyers struggling to raise a large deposit, or for those who need to move up the property ladder who either don't have enough equity in their current home or aren't able to raise a larger mortgage.

"We knew moving would be the better option rather than commuting, and when we read into the Help to Buy scheme, it was the perfect solution and certainly made sense" said Clair.

Whilst searching on the internet, the couple came across a new development in Whiteley by David Wilson Homes. They contacted the developer and arranged to view the properties available.

Agreeing that the 3 bedroom home they viewed would be perfect and ideal for them and their son, Henry, Clair and Doug didn't hesitate when reserving the home. Speaking with a mortgage adviser, who explained the process of contacting HomesinHants, the Help to Buy agent for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the legal process was soon underway.

"The whole procedure was painless; everything was taken care of for us, all with minimal fuss. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it all was." explained Clair.

Within just 8 weeks of reserving their property, Clair and Doug completed on their £250,000 three bedroom house through the help of the Help to Buy Equity Loan, a mortgage and a 5% deposit of just £12,500. Clair and Doug's monthly mortgage payments are affordable at £911 per month. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe for their son and in addition to this Doug doesn't have to commute to work.

"My favourite spot is the spacious landing where I can now work from home, and in peace. The house has brilliant standards and the finish is great. I never thought it would be so quick and easy buying a property through Help to Buy. David Wilson Homes have been great, as have HomeinHants thank you!" said Clair.
