Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"Help to Buy is a fantastic scheme"

Have you read about the Help to Buy equity loan scheme in local newspapers, or seen adverts on the television? Are you curious as to what the scheme is about, and interested to know more?

From just this, Kieran Lovelock (25), from Church Crookham, became aware of the range of affordable options available to apply for a home, through the Government Help to Buy schemes. Deciding to find out more, he researched into the options and registered with HomesinHants, the Help to Buy agency for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Help to Buy is a government backed equity loan scheme available to help first and next time buyers take a step onto, or move up the property ladder. The scheme is offered to assist the purchase of selected new build homes, with the support of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home; potentially an ideal way to get on the property ladder for first time buyers struggling to raise a large deposit, or for those who need to move up the property ladder who either don't have enough equity in their current home or aren't able to raise a larger mortgage.

"I was living at home with my parents because I couldn't afford to move out on my own, nor raise a big enough mortgage deposit to buy on the open market." said Kieran.

Kieran arranged an appointment with a mortgage broker to assess how much he could borrow on his salary, and whether he would be eligible for the Help to Buy scheme.

"I came across a flat within my price range, viewed it and knew it would be perfect." explained Kieran. "After I found out that I had been accepted for the scheme, the legal process took place and I completed on my property just one month later!"

Kieran purchased his £170,000 one bedroom apartment with the assistance of the Help to Buy equity loan and mortgage deposit. The modern property is an ideal size for Kieran's first home and features an open plan kitchen and living room, and is also a good commuting distance to work.

"I think that my apartment is of great value for the price I am paying, and definitely the best choice for me in terms of price, location and quality. I love the high ceilings, giving it a really spacious feel." said Kieran. "Help to Buy is a fantastic scheme which allows hard working people who want to get on in life a deserved and well needed "leg up" to set them on their way." He added.
