Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"The Help to Buy equity loan, mortgage and whole house purchase was much simpler than we anticipated"

Are you tired of paying someone else's mortgage through privately renting? Do you aspire to be a home owner but can't afford to do so?

Sam and Jo Gregory saw an advert in their local newspaper for an upcoming event held by their local Help to Buy agent, HomesinHants. Reading the headline "First time buyer or want to move up the property ladder" the young couple were sure to not miss their opportunity to find out more, and went along to the free event.

The Help to Buy equity loan is a government backed scheme available to help first and next time buyers take a step onto, or move up the property ladder. The scheme is offered to assist the purchase of selected new build homes, with the support of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home.

Attending the Help to Buy show, Sam and Jo spoke with the HomesinHants team, who explained more about the scheme, and other options available to them. The couple then took their time to browse around the event where they spoke with a variety of Registered Providers, Developers, Estate Agents, Solicitors, and even Financial Advisors. From this they gathered lots of helpful and important information to take away with them.

"We were living in rented accommodation and our outgoings in terms of rent were far too high to save for a mortgage deposit" said Jo. "We attended the HomesinHants event at the Ageas Bowl in the summer after seeing a newspaper advert."

At the event, Sam and Jo were pleased to discover they could afford to purchase a three bedroom home with a 5% deposit, 75% mortgage and 20% equity loan.

"We contacted a local developer, Forman Homes, who were building new homes in a perfect location for us, which is close enough to the New Forest for walk and near enough to friends and family." explained Sam. We viewed the plans and loved it straight away! After being accepted for the scheme, we ended up buying the first home we viewed!" added Jo.

Throughout the process of buying their home, Sam and Jo were kept up to date from all involved.

"The Help to Buy equity loan, mortgage and whole house purchase was much simpler than we anticipated, we were very lucky with our supportive solicitors too."

Sam and Jo's new home is much more affordable for the couple; they now pay £200 less a month on their new mortgage than what they were paying on their privately rented flat.

"I would definitely recommend this scheme to anyone who is stuck in a rental rut. It is so much more rewarding paying for you own home each month than paying someone else's mortgage! We love having more room and there is now plenty of space for our two kittens to create lots of chaos!"
