Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"IT'S AN INVESTMENT AND BRINGS A GREAT SENSE OF ACHIEVEMENT!"

Sometimes the best way to find out how you can get on the property ladder is to speak to the experts face to face. That's exactly what Rachel and her husband Dann did soon before finding their dream home.

They attended a Help to Buy South show in Southampton, where they had the chance to speak with various housing providers and independent financial advisors. This provided the opportunity not only to find out what homes were currently on the market, but to make sure they were signed up to receive notifications about future properties.

As a result, Rachel was contacted by Radian Homes a few months later when a three bedroom house became available in Bursledon. Suddenly, it seemed their days of privately renting could finally come to an end.

"We spent six years in a rented property whilst we got married and started saving for a mortgage deposit. Then out of the blue, we found a house that was affordable, good for commuting for both of us and it was close to nice schools for the future."

The three bedroom semi-detached house had a market value of £230,000, but with Shared Ownership they could buy a 50% share for £115,000. This meant the mortgage deposit they had been saving up for would only need to be £5,750.

"There's a big living area downstairs and a large kitchen. Plus a conservatory that is about the size of the living room again! In fact the house is much bigger than the impression we got from our first visit - it's perfect for a family one day!"

The house was part of Radian's Shared Ownership Resale scheme, which enables existing Shared Ownership properties to be sold on to people who are trying to make the leap onto the property ladder.

Rachel and Dann are now happily living in their very own home. "We would highly recommend the Shared Ownership scheme and the potential to buy a Resale home. It's an investment and brings a great sense of achievement."
