Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"I'm proud to have a place I can call home"

Like many others Daniel Bateman, 26, was living with his parents while saving up to buy his first home. It was only after attending a Help to Buy show and being recommended the Shared Ownership scheme by a friend he realised how much easier it would be to purchase his own home.

By visiting the Help to Buy show show in Southampton, Daniel was given the chance to speak with housing providers and independent financial advisors. Through this he was able to get more information about what he could afford and get a chance to see homes that were available to purchase in his area.

After the show Daniel got in touch with Radian Homes to view a one bedroom apartment at William Bricknell Pavillion in Southampton. As one of Radian's Resale properties the apartment, and others like it, allow those looking to get on the property ladder to purchase an existing Shared Ownership home.

"I love it! There's an open plan kitchen and living room leading out to the balcony that's perfect for sitting out on in the summer. It's also within walking distance to work and close to the football stadium,"

With a full market value of £125,000 Daniel was able to purchase a 40% share for just £50,000. This meant he only needed to pay a mortgage deposit of £2,500 to be able to secure the one bedroom apartment.

For Daniel the journey from viewing to purchasing the property was quick and easy taking just under 3 months.

Daniel is now living in his new home with his girlfriend. "I'd definitely recommend the scheme to other first time buyers. My parents only had to put up with me living with them for a year, as the scheme helped me move out much sooner than I was expecting. Now I've got my foot on the ladder and feel so much more independent and proud to have a place I can call home."
