Help to Buy South has helped hundreds of people to purchase or rent their new home.  Here are just a few of the success stories:

"Expert guidance and advice was always on offer"

Are you privately renting and looking to purchase on your own? Or are you trying to save enough for a mortgage deposit on the open market but time is taking its toll?

Mark McLaren, 52, was lodging following a relationship breakdown. With no equity in his marital home, Mark's awareness of the Help to Buy schemes introduced him to a different route to assist him with the purchase of a property with a smaller deposit.

"I had researched the process of Help to Buy from the HomesinHants website," said Mark. "It gave appropriate detail upon both the procedure and process of the scheme."

The scheme is a government backed equity loan scheme available to help first and next time buyers take a step onto, or move up the property ladder. The scheme is offered to assist the purchase of selected new build homes, with the support of an equity loan up to 20% of the value of the home.

"I ideally wanted to move into a new build and within Winchester, a city that I love." explained Mark. I came across Cheshil Mews, a development in Winchester by Burton Property. After visiting the site and viewing my preferred plot, I received confirmation that I had been accepted for the scheme and the legal processes began."

Mark explains how his mortgage broker liaised with HomesinHants, the Help to Buy Agent for
Hampshire & Isle of Wight who administer the scheme, and his mortgage lender.

Purchasing a one bedroom, modern apartment for £171,000, with a deposit and Help to Buy equity loan, Mark's mortgage payments are just £800 per month. The property is a generous size, ideal for when either of his two sons visit from university.

"The location of my apartment is great for commuting purposes and I have been thoroughly impressed by the quality of build and also the efficiency of insulation. I am more than satisfied with my purchase, I'm looking forward to adding my own personal touch and making it homely." said Mark.

"The process was a learning curve for my solicitors dealing with the transaction. Similarly, lessons were identified for the development company, who were also new to Help to Buy. Despite a few hiccups along the route, the transaction was relatively smooth. Expert guidance and advice was always on offer from HomesinHants and all staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, all parties were outstanding thank you."
